How to recognize really really sustainable businesses.

First things first.

From the industry giants to newly emerging small businesses, it seems like every company wants to jump on the sustainable fashion bandwagon. As a result, it is now important for us to wade through the babble and differentiate brands that practice what they preach from those who piggyback on Greenwashing.

Wait. Is there really a formula?

Like most things in life, there is no one-size-fits-all criteria when it comes to sustainable development. That being said, there are a few markers that are a dead giveaway for a brand that truly cares about its impact on the earth.

Awesome. Can we get to the main point already?

For sure. There are a few ways to easily and quickly identify the good ones.

  • Spill the tea by looking at the product label. Are their materials ethically sourced?

  • Don’t be convinced by a promise of becoming a climate neutral company. If they achieve it in 2050, it’ll be too late.

  • Look at some of their other product offerings. Are all of them eco friendly products, or is this one just an empty token?

We'll stop talking. In a minute.

All in all, it’s a process of trial and error. Paying attention to the details and researching a bit goes a long way. As long as our heart is in the right place, that’s all that matters, right?
